Team chat for small teams

Team chat where every item is a conversation.

Boards hold the work. Every item, subitem and to-do has its own chat, and status, due dates, assignees and time logged land in that chat as pills. The work and the talk about the work are the same thing.

  • No password, no card
  • Free for up to three people
  • Android, Windows and the web

Colour is information

Three colours. Each one means one thing.

A near-black screen, WhatsApp's grammar, and three neons that never decorate. If something lights up, it is telling you something.

Green is done

An item marked done. A message your teammate has seen. Go.

Done✓✓

Pink needs you

Overdue. Mentioned. Blocked. An unread chat's timestamp turns pink until you open it.

Overdue3

Purple is in motion

A running timer, someone typing, an item in progress. The only things that pulse are a running timer and an overdue date.

In progress

How it works

Nothing to keep in sync.

  1. 1

    Make a board

Projects hold boards, boards hold groups, groups hold items. Every item gets its own chat the moment it exists, and so does every board and every direct message.

  2. 2

    Work inside the chat

Status, assignees, due date and the timer sit in a bar above the thread. Each change drops a pill into the conversation, so the history of the work is the conversation.

  3. 3

    Turn talk into work

Long-press or right-click any message and choose Turn into item. It becomes a subitem, a board item or a personal to-do depending on where you are, with a link back to where it started.

What's in the box

Built for a team that talks more than it files.

Stand-up mode

Put the board on a screen. Items queue by person or by status with anything due soon first. Arrow keys move, S sets status, A assigns, D sets a date. The meeting ends on what shipped this week.

Voice notes

Tap the mic in the composer, talk, send. Plays inline with a progress bar, one at a time. Silence is discarded rather than sent.

Works offline, light on data

A cold start opens from a local copy. Sends queue and go out when you reconnect. Low-data mode loads photos on tap and shrinks uploads before they leave the phone.

Mentions, replies, reactions

Mention a teammate with @, reply with a quote, react with an emoji. The bell on the Chat tab collects mentions, replies, assignments and direct messages in one Activity list.

Push and a daily digest

A push for every mention, reply, assignment and DM. One reminder each morning for what's overdue or due today, and a digest email if you have unread activity. Mute a chat, a workspace, or set quiet hours.

Time on the item

Start the timer when you begin, stop it when you're done, or log time by hand. Every entry is a pill in the chat, so the item carries its own timesheet.

Search everything

Items, boards, people and messages across the workspace, or inside one chat with a jump straight to the hit. Anything you can't see doesn't exist for you, including in search.

Files and photos

Drop files and photos into any chat. Photos get a small preview so a busy chat opens in kilobytes and the full image loads on tap. Every chat has a Gallery tab.

Invite links and roles

Type an email or share one link that lasts seven days and can be revoked. Owners, admins and members; removing someone unassigns them everywhere. Sign-in is a six-digit code, never a password.

Made in South Africa

Priced in rand, built for mobile data.

  • One flat price. R299 a month for a workspace of ten, or R550 for as many people as you like. No dollar surprises on the card statement.
  • Kind to a prepaid bundle. Low-data mode, image previews measured in kilobytes, and an offline copy of your workspace.
  • Voice notes as a first-class message. Because that is how teams here already talk.
  • Your data is yours. Export everything you wrote as one file, or delete your account, from the Me tab. Your POPIA rights are spelt out in the privacy policy.

What is Sorted?

Team chat where every item is a conversation. Boards hold items, every item and board has its own chat, and status, due dates, assignees and time logs show up inside that chat as pills. There's nothing to keep in sync: the work and the talk about the work are the same thing.

How do I sign in? I never set a password.

There are no passwords. Enter your email, we send a six-digit code, type it in. The code lasts 10 minutes. If it doesn't arrive, check spam, then ask for a new one (you can request five per fifteen minutes).

How do I invite my team?

Team tab → type an email in the invite box, or tap the link icon to create an invite link you can paste anywhere. Links last seven days and can be revoked. Free workspaces hold three members; Team plans hold ten with extra seats available; Business has no member limit.

What does the neon mean?

Colour is information. Green means done, pink means something needs you (overdue, mentioned, blocked), purple means in motion (a running timer, someone typing). Nothing glows for decoration.

Can I use Sorted offline?

Yes, within reason. The app keeps a copy of your workspaces and the last messages in each chat. Anything you send while offline queues and goes out when you reconnect. Photos, files and voice notes wait for a connection.

What happens on the Free plan after 90 days?

Messages older than 90 days stay stored but aren't shown; a line in the chat says so. Upgrading to Team brings the whole history back instantly. Items, boards and files are never removed.

How do I pay?

Plans are bought on the web app or the Windows app (Me tab → plan), with PayFast. The phone apps show your plan but don't sell upgrades, so there are no app-store fees in the price.

Can I export or delete my data?

Me tab → Your data. Export gives you a JSON file with your profile, memberships, items and every message you wrote. Delete my account removes you from every workspace and deletes your details; workspaces where you're the only member go with you.

Get your team sorted.

Sign in with your email, name your workspace, invite two people. Your first board is waiting with three example items.
